Changing Faces and Trading Places at ChangeMakers

ChangeMakers, like many companies, understands that our people are our biggest asset. We are lucky to have an incredible, talented team that truly enjoys working together.

From our humble beginnings in 1998 with three employees, we’ve grown to a shop of 19 professionals encompassing the entire communications spectrum. Although we recently said a tearful goodbye to two long-time ChangeMakers, now we’re looking forward to welcoming some new faces and congratulating some familiar faces on their new roles!

Welcoming New ChangeMakers!

Mariah Baldwin joined us on July 26 as our newest Client Services Manager, coming from United Way of Winnipeg. She just completed her Masters in Sociology last year (while working full-time!), and with her work and educational background she’ll have a lot in common with Jill McLean. Her dedication and commitment are a sure sign that she’ll fit in perfectly here.

Laura Ellis is our new Client Services Associate and she joined us on July 17. She comes to us after working as a Community Relations Coordinator at Pricerazzi. As a University of Winnipeg Rhetoric, Writing and Communications grad, she already knows Christian Massaroni – and she’s sure to become an integral part of our team just as quickly as he did.

Welcome to the team, Mariah and Laura!

Moving on Up

We also are pleased to share some exciting news about some promotions within the company – Hilary Friesen and Jill McLean are set to take on their new roles on our leadership team. They’re also looking forward to co-leading the Strategic Services team.

Hilary Friesen and Jill McLean

Hilary Friesen has been a ChangeMaker since 2007, starting her career here as a copywriter. She quickly became our Client and Strategic Services Manager, delivering exceptional service to two of our most high-profile clients, SAFE Work Manitoba and the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB).

Now, as our Director of Strategic Services, Hilary’s skills in strategic planning will be put to excellent use. In fact, she will lead strategic planning, including organizational and marketing communications, for our clients.

Speaking of her new role, Hilary said: “I’m excited to take on a broader role within ChangeMakers as part of the Strategic Services and leadership teams. I look forward to bringing my strategic and client service experience with the WCB and SAFE Work Manitoba to a broad range of our clients to help them succeed.”

Jill McLean joined ChangeMakers in 2014 as our Research and Strategic Services Manager. With a strong academic and professional background putting research methodology to practical use, Jill has really rounded out the research and strategic service offerings for our clients.

As Director of Research and Innovation, Jill will continue enhancing our research and evaluation, curriculum development and strategic planning services. She looks forward to acting as a driver for the rest of the organization – pushing out information about the latest trends in digital, content and other aspects of social marketing campaigns.

And how does she feel about her new role?

“I’m really excited…I get to hang on to the best parts of my old position and take on new challenges that will allow me to work with more clients and more ChangeMakers. I’m part of a great team and we’re all looking forward to helping ChangeMakers and our clients grow and stay ahead of a landscape that is constantly changing.”

Congratulations, Hilary and Jill! We know you’re going to rock your new roles!
